RAY MANN has been a
Nevada resident since 1966, coming here from his hometown in northern
Illinois. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1976
with a B. S. in Accounting. While at UNR, Ray was twice elected as
president of his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and was selected
as a member of Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.
His varied work experience over the years has included Operations
Manager of a major Hotel and Casino in Reno, controller for the largest
Corporate Services firm in Nevada, and more than 5 years as a Senior
Auditor for the State of Nevada. He also taught several levels of
accounting courses at Western Nevada Community College in Carson City,
NV.
Ray became a Certified Public Accountant in August 1983. After working
for local CPA firms, he formed his own firm in 1990, specializing
in quality accounting and tax services for individuals and small businesses.
He and his wife and partner, Ellen, completed construction of their
new office building in November of 2002.
Ray is also a marathon runner, with over 20 finishes to his credit,
an avid student of American History and Genealogy, and an active member
of Toastmasters International.
TERI D. ATKINS, CPA,
joined the firm in January of 2002, bringing with her 9 years of diversified
experience with some of Reno's larger accounting firms. She moved
to Reno from the Bay Area in 1981, attended high school here, and,
in 1993, graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a B. S.
in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. While attending
college, Teri spent 3 years working for a national CPA firm.
Upon graduation, Teri worked for CPA firms in the Reno area, and received
her CPA Certification in 1997. She has a wide range of experience
in both tax and financial accounting, and has worked with many types
of industries and entity structures.
Teri's professional goals include obtaining her General Securities
license and specializing in estate planning.
Teri especially enjoys music, and finds the Reno/Tahoe area perfect
for her interests in snow skiing, golfing, hiking, and camping, which
are enthusiastically shared by her family. She and her husband live
in Reno and have 2 young children.
ELLEN MANN is a native
of Ohio, moving to Nevada from California in 1993. She has a B. A.
from Beloit College, Beloit, WI and has spent much of her career in
the fields of Customer Service, Research, and Computers. In 1994,
Ellen left a position in market research at Reno's NBC-TV affiliate
station in order to help Ray in his rapidly growing accounting firm.
Ellen's specialties in the firm include bookkeeping, research, administration,
liaison services between clients and tax agencies, and computer software
and hardware.. She is a Quickbooks© Certified Professional Advisor
and has special expertise in payroll reporting and tax issues.
Her interests encompass new technology, home repair, decorating and
remodeling, genealogical research, mysteries and reading.
Ray and Ellen live in Reno and have 4 college-age children: a daughter
and 3 sons.
